Brief Summary:
Learn to paddle a single sea kayak, starting in flat water to move to overnight open ocean expedition style trips. We will learn to paddle, manoeuver, capsize, wet exit, rescue, self-rescue and more. We start with easier enviroment and will move eventually to open ocean.
Additional Information

This session will be around Hen and Chicken bay.

Single kayaks and its gear will be provided. Bring water and proper clothing to get wet and change. Something to eat to recover energy.

Wear proper shoes or similar to get wet, not thongs.

Meet and finish at Drummoyne Scout Hall, 5 minutes drive from the water. We will need a parent car to transport a kayak on the roof. Start at 6pm but try to be a bit earlier. Finish at 8pm.

If this event attracts attention there will be more midweek sessions, spread the word. After attending a few sessions there will be enough participants who have develped core skills and we will be able to move to more challenging conditions, eg paddling under the Harbour Bridge or go out to to chase whales in the open ocean. Opportunities to advance in OAS Paddling and kayaking qualifications.

If you want to bring your own kayak, consult the activity coordinator emailing a photo of the kayak you want to use.

I will need help transporting kayaks to/from launching site, car with roof racks or tow bar to tow trailer.
