District Multi-Section Hike/Camp to celebrate Founders Day.

To celebrate Founders Day, Penrith City District will be hosting a Hike/Camp for it's members.

The information for each section is slightly different. Please read the below information carefully for your section.

Joey Scouts

Joey Scouts will commence this activity on the Saturday Morning at 10:00am at the Glenbrook Entrance to the National Park.

Joeys will be required to bring 2 bags with them

  • A day pack that contains their Lunch and Afternoon Tea for the Saturday, A Hat, 2 Water Bottles, Rain Gear, First Aid Kit, Sunscreen & a Litter Bag for the Walk in. 
  • An overnight bag that contains thier sleeping mat, sleeping bag, pajamas, a change of clothes, swimmers, toiletries and mess kit.  This bag will be transported to the campsite via vehicle and the Joeys will not have access to it to Saturday Night.

Joeys who wish to attend for the full weekend are required to have a parent stay with them and bring thier own tent.  A team of volunteer parents will cook Saturday Dinner & Supper, Sunday Breakfast, Morning Tea and Lunch for the Joey Scouts, Parents and Leaders.

 

Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts will commence this activity on the Saturday Morning at 10:00am at the Glenbrook Entrance to the National Park.

Cubs will be required to bring 2 bags with them

  • A day pack that contains their Lunch and Afternoon Tea for the Saturday, A Hat, 2 Water Bottles, Rain Gear, First Aid Kit, Sunscreen & a Litter Bag for the Walk in. 
  • An overnight bag that contains thier sleeping mat, sleeping bag, pajamas, a change of clothes, swimmers, toiletries and mess kit.  This bag will be transported to the campsite via vehicle and the Cubs will not have access to it to Saturday Night.

Cubs will be sleeping in tents, which will be allocated by the Cub Scout Leaders.  A team of volunteer parents will cook Saturday Dinner & Supper, Sunday Breakfast, Morning Tea and Lunch for the Cub Scouts and Leaders.

In the event of severe wet weather, where it becomes required for us to leave the campsite, the Cub Scouts will be redirected to the Emu Plains/Lapstone Scout Hall where parents will be asked to come and collect them. Severe Wet Weather is determined by the park rangers deciding to close the national park entry.

 

Scouts

Scouts will commence this activity on the Saturday Morning at 8:00am at Penrith Railway Station where they will catch the train to Glenbrook and hike to Euroka Clearing.

Scouts will participate in the activities around the cleaning and then depart after lunch on Sunday to walk back to the railway station, arriving at 4:00pm

This activity is designed to help Scouts work towards thier Pioneer & Explorer Campcraft badges or to further their hiking skills. Leaders will work with the participants in the lead up to the weekend to prepare them for this activity. Scouts undertaking the Blue Cord will also hike out to Red Hands cave during this activity.

Scouts will be required to bring their own Saturday Lunch, Water, tents, clothing and sleeping gear. Information on food and cooking will be provided by their Scout Leaders Food from Saturday Dinner onwards is provided in the cost, although Scouts will be responsible for their own cooking.

 

Participants who can not make the full weekend are invited to join us from 9:00am Sunday 24th February for the day.

Joeys and Cubs attending will be catered for by a team of volunteers who will provide Morning Tea & Lunch.  Scouts will be required to join in cooking the provided food.

 

All Participants

The cost for the weekend includes National Park use fees for those camping, catering fees, as well as a contribution towards activity costs.

Activities for the weekend will include Scavenger Hunt, Observation Activities, Wide Games, Exploring the local Area, Camp Fire, Swimming and Sports. 

The Saturday Night camp fire activity will include a reflection time inline with the Founders Day activities and will see all members reaffirm thier Scout Promise.  There will also be a skit/performance competition open to teams of 6 people.

 

Payment for this event is to your Group Leader who will then provide payment to district.  Any questions in the first instance should be directed to your group leader who will be able to answer or find out on your behalf.
