Brief Summary:
4 day hike from Cherrybrook along the Great North Walk to Cockatoo Island & Circular Quay $32 for campsites + OPAL for transport (pay in cash)
Additional Information

Ella is leading a 4 day hike to complete her Adventurous Journey for her Queens Scout Award.

Cost is $32, plus OPAL card is needed for transport.  Payment to be made in cash.

Particpants will be hiking the last section of the Great North Walk from Cherrybrook to Circular Key (starting on the Callicoma Walk, joining Great North Walk at Jungo Camp ground)

DAY 1: Cherrybrook Village Shopping Centre to Baden Powell Activity Centre

Walking Distance: ~6 km

DAY 2: BP Activity Centre to Chatswood Scout Hall

Walking Distance: ~15.5 km

DAY 3: Chatswood Scout Hall to Cockatoo Island

Walking Distance: ~17.2 km

DAY 4: Explore Cockatoo Island, then ferry to Circular Quay

Walking Distance: ~ 4 km

End Point: Circular Quay Train Station (train back to Blacktown Station for pick-up)

 

Supervising leader will be doing a food drop at Chatswood Scout Hall at end of Day 2, so food for night 2 onwards can be given to Supervising leader for this.

Meal plan

Participants need 3 lunches, 3 dinners, 3 breakfasts and snacks

There will be some shops on day 1 and days 3 & 4 for treats/drinks/ice creams, however must not rely on these for meals.

Group Equipment

Patrol will arrange to share cooking equipment, 1 set between 2 people

Important

The weather forecast is for high temperatures on Saturday. The hike plan has options to reduce pack weight and/or shorten the hike length for the day if participants are concerned about fatigue. The patrol can adjusts plan as needed to ensure the safety of the group. The supervising leader will be advised of any changes to the plan.

Swimming will be allowed only if there is a leader or Rover attending with basic water rescue qualifications.

Boating activities are listed because participants will be taking a public ferry to/from Cockatoo Island.
