Brief Summary:
Scouts from Units in Parramatta District are invited to participate in an Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) stage 3 bushwalk on the Great North Walk from North Ryde to the City, then overnight camping at Cockatoo Island.

Description:
Scouts will be doing a beginner level hike along the Great North Walk:
Saturday
- start at Magdala Park, North Ryde to Woolwich Ferry Wharf (approx 12.5km)
- catch Ferry from Woolwich to Circular Quay
- return walk to corner of Bridge & Loftus St to Principal Road Marker Obelisk
- catch Ferry to Cockatoo Island to camp for the night
Sunday
- catch 8:28am Ferry from Cockatoo Island to Rydalmere (If we miss this, we will catch the 9:28am Ferry if all Scouts are not ready in time)
- arrive Rydalmere Ferry Wharf at 9:15am or 10:15am
The hike will involve 6 hours of walking over a distance of approx. 14kms, so meets the requirements for OAS Bushwalking stage 3.
Wear:
- Scout shirt and scarf
- comfortable pants
- comfortable shoes suitable for hiking
- hat (recommend full brimmed)
Bring:
Refer to the 'Overnight hike equipment, meal and other information' file (refer the right hand side).
Cost:
Ferry - $10 on Opal card
Camping - $27 to be deposited into bank account
