Additional Information

Introduction

Join us for a Blue Mountains Classic!

^ Our initial plan was to do the hike in 3 days. We decided to add a day. We are now doing the hike over 4 days (same route, just more time to enjoy) to make it more achievable for younger Scouts. This allows time for a later start and swim at Coxs River and breaks the climb to Black Range in half. Coxs River to Alum Creek 6 1/2 km and Alum Creek to Black Range 14 1/2 km.

A medium grade hike based in the Blue Mountains National Park. The distance is 45 km. This is a longer hike but quite suitable for active Scouts and Venturers. The walking route is well defined therefore minimal navigation is required. Water can be refilled at regular intervals.

Following an 1884 heritage horse track, this challenging walk starts near Katoomba, passing cascading waterfalls and wild rivers into the Megalong Valley and village, before crossing a unique swing bridge, climbing the range and arriving at Jenolan Caves. At night, cook up a hearty meal and enjoy some stargazing before falling asleep to the sounds of the bush.

This multiple day hike has a specific focus on developing strength, pace and endurance. The second and third days involves a significant jump up in elevation climbing the range. Coxs River approx 400 m, Black Range 1200 m

One or more bushwalking guides will be available to provide support and coaching.
