Bearskin is the best lightweight, self-catered competition camp on the North Coast with bases being run by Scouts for patrols of Venturers and Rovers.
Additional Information
Theme: Australiana
To help get into the spirt of the weekend we encourage costumes and coming in theme. Please get into the spirit of the weekend and theme your patrol and bases accordingly. Bonus points will be awarded for patrols in costume.
Venturers
Patrols are to be between 4-6 people. Patrols can include those over 18, but must have at least 2 18-year-olds if they do, and if have one 18-year-old pulls due to someone pullng out, changes to your patrol will have to be made.
The Venturers/ Rovers need to carry all their needs for the weekend in their packs to their camp-site on arrival. They should be aiming for no more than 20% of their body weight in their packs. They will be packing up each day, and carrying gear all weekend between bases and camp. You will need to carry your water for each day. Venturers/ Rovers need to utilise the Patrol System to the best of their ability and remember their Scout Law at all times. Sun Safe is a must - this means collared shirts and hats.
Scouts
Scouts will be scoring and where possible running the activities. Scouts attending and running bases need to have unit council or leader approval. Scouts need to be able to run the activities at the bases and be independent, as there can be times where there won't be any patrols on your base. There are no toilet facilities at the base so Scouts need to be happy with bush toileting.
Leaders
We appreciate all the help we can get on these types of weekends as we need leaders to oversee the bases. We want to have as many activity bases as possible. We are aiming for two adults (can be one or two leaders and/or a adult helper) and minimum 4 Scouts on each base.
Adult Helpers
All adult helpers will need to be registered as an Adult Helper and have a cleared WWCC prior to registering for camp. Please speak with your Unit or Group Leader if you need help doing this. All adults (apart from approved carers) will be assigned a role, which may include helping to deliver activities at the bases, sites & services or providing support to the event. Link to find your local group and register as a parent helper https://www.scoutsnsw.com.au/club-finder/
Due to the nature of this activity and Scouts Youth Protection procedures, no carers or adults are able to walk around with competing patrols.

Scouts registering to run bases must have approval from your leaders or Unit Council. This will be checked with your leaders before application is accepted.
