Brief Summary:
JOTA/JOTI this year will be mostly a virtual event where Scouts will join in for some activities over Zoom as well as linking in amateur radio operators for Battleship games, Scouting at Home challenges, pre-recorded and live stream video presentations, JOTI activities, international live stream and finishing off with a virtual Camp Fire. We are combining some of our activities with other Scouts in the Sydney from South Metropolitan and Hume Regions. The Additional Information has more details of the activities planned. Their success depends upon the number of Scouts and leaders who are available to participate. We must have adequate numbers of leaders to fulfil our duty of care and help run/supervise activities. Scouts only need to participate in at least one activity to qualify for the JOTA/JOTI badge. It is important to register so we know which group you are from so we can advise your leaders that you have qualified for the badge which they can purchase for a small cost ($2.00). Scouts also need to register at https://jotajoti.info. You will need to register as an individual. This register will allow you to participate in the broader international activities as well.

The above programme is subject to change depending on availability of participants, leaders and other resources being available at the time.  Keep watching this space for up to date information.

Battleship Games

The Battleship game is based on the traditional game but will be done by virtual patrols competing against other virtual patrols.  For each game you will join a specific Zoom session where you will be separated into patrols with a leader and a radio operator.  Each patrol will play against about 5 or 6 other patrols.  Each patrol will give an attack coordinate which will be relayed to the other patrols by the amateur radio operator.  The other patrols will indicate a hit or miss via the radio operators.

If you want to form your own patrol you are welcome to do so with a group of you registering and indicating that you are part of a virtual patrol.  There is a field where you identify your patrol name and group.

Zoom sessions will be based on the Battleship session for the weekend.  They are:

1st Game 9:30am Sat via Blue Mountains radio repeater, Zoom link: Direct Link

2nd Game 1:00pm Sat via Chatswood repeater, Zoom link: Direct Link

3rd Game 4:15pm Sat via Blue Mountains radio repeater, Zoom link: Direct Link

4th Game 9:45amam Sun via Chatswood repeater, Zoom link: Direct Link

5th Game 2:30pm Sun via Blue Mountains radio repeater, Zoom link: Direct Link

International JOTA/JOTI Events

Over the weekend there will be various activities and live streaming from the World Organisation Scout Movement (WOSM) which you can join up with at any time or pick up on the live stream.  More information will be coming on http://www.jotajoti.info.  As we learn more from WOSM we will advise.
