Additional Information

John Moyle Field Day (part of Amateur Radio) is a Ham radio competition weekend where radio operators, in remote locations (away from their homes/halls), try to make as many radio contacts as possible over the weekend.  Scouts/Venturers in our Region are going to Glossodia Scout hall (Cnr Lamrock Avenue and Creek Ridge Road, Glossodia) grounds for the weekend.  Transport to/from Glossodia will be by parents’ vehicles.  We should not be car pooling unless private arrangements are made between families considering covid restrictions.  We expect everyone to arrive by 8:00am Saturday 19-Mar-2022 and depart 3:00pm Sunday 20-Mar-2022.  Some leaders will be there Friday evening to start setting things up so please check with us to make sure at least two leaders will be there should anyone want to come Friday night.

It is full on camping in tents and camp self-catering.  At this stage under Covid requirements tentage will be one person per tent unless brother and brother or sister and sister siblings.

Cost for the weekend is $5.00 for camping fee.  Please pay to the leaders upon arrivalSaturday morning.  Catering is self-catering.  We will provide a bar-b-que for use.

All participants for the weekend must be registered members of Scouts.

As we mentioned, this weekend is also open to anyone who may have an interest in Amateur Radio.  For Scouts/Venturers/Leaders who are already licensed, this is a good opportunity to get some on-air practice to build confidence in using the radio and talking to other operators wherever.
