NSW January school holidays. An adventurous river hike in the Kanangra Boyd and Blue Mountains National Parks. Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders, Adult Helpers with multi day experience. Suitable for active kids.

Desirable experience: A couple of multi day hikes under your belt, comfortable with pack under load and comfortable in water up to chest, comfortable with rock scramble and obsticles.

Jenolan Caves to Carlons Farm via Jenolan River, Hellgate Gorge and Lower Jenolan Gorge. An adventurous hike in the Kanangra Boyd National Park.  The route follows the Jenolan River from Jenolan Caves to its confluence with the Coxs River. The river is located up to 1 km below the ridges above, this creates a safe and comfortable microclimate during the summer months. Spectacular wild and remote country. There are some wades and possible swims, rock scrambles and river crossings. Quite managable for active kids.
