Brief Summary:
Welcome to Glenfield School of Magic where you can explore the wonders of the Special Interest Areas!!!
Additional Information

Come join the State Special Interest Area (SIA) Team on an adventure to discover the magic of what an SIA can be. You will take a journey through our magical classes to uncover new and exciting ideas that can inspire your own SIA projects.

In your Houses, you'll work your way around our supernatural bases, meet some fantastic beasts, play Quidditch, and bewitch robots just to name a few.

Our Great Hall will keep you fed all weekend so you can focus on expanding your horizons.

Leaders will meet with their Head of House in the Teacher's Lounge to explore how to support our young wizards and witches on their SIA journey. While our witches and wizards in training will go flying off to Hogsmeade for their own goal setting adventure.

So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets for the Glenfield Express, pack your cauldron and ready your wands as we set off on an adventure like no other to the Glenfield School of Magic!

Please note: Parents are reminded that students may not bring an owl, cat or a toad...

FAQs

What sections can attend the event?

The event is open to all sections.

Do Leaders need to accompany their Youth Members?

For the Joey Scout, Cub Scout and Scout sections, yes Leaders and/or Adult Helpers need to accompany their Youth Members. Please consider safe ratios and have a minimum of one Leader for every 10 Youth Members (or one Leader per every six Joey Scouts). Venturer Scout Patrols and Rover Scouts are welcome to attend without a Leader.

Can Joey Scouts stay overnight?

No. Joey Scouts are day visitors only on the Saturday.

Where will I sleep if I'm staying overnight?

Accommodation for this event is camping in a standing camp style (set up your campsite for the duration of the event). Youth Members and Leaders from the same Unit will be camping together in separate tents.

Please Note: There will not be any cabin accommodation available at this event.

What do I need to bring?

Dressing up on theme is encouraged! All overnight participants will be required to bring their own camping gear.

Youth Members should work together in Patrols to organise what they need to bring to the event and it might even contribute to their Outdoor Adventure Skills!

When can I arrive at the event?

Overnight particpants can arrive from 7pm Friday night to set up camp.

Is the event catered?

Yes. The event is fully catered from Saturday morning breakfast to Sunday Lunch. Only day visiting Joey Scouts will need to bring their own food. Please be sure to provide any dietary requirements through your e-permissions.

Will Youth Members complete a Special Interest Area (SIA) Project on this event?

No. This event will provide opportunities for Youth Members to explore the six SIAs in new and exciting ways. They will be able to take the skills they develop over the weekend back to their units to form the base of an SIA project. All Youth Members and Leaders will also participate in goal setting activities over the weekend.

Refunds

There will be no funds after 23 August 2022.
