Brief Summary:

Additional Information

Join other Scout Units for this environment camp at Berrima Scout Camp where you will be able to participate in a range of environmental activities designed to assist you to choose appropriate projects for your awards. The attached flyer gives more information.

You could have fun hacking out some weeds, positioning some plants, beholding some birds, get a canoe view of the river, catch a carp (perhaps), build stuff, meet wild things on a night walk and much more.

Who must fill in the E-Permission?

  • E-permission forms must be filled in by all attendees.
  • All parents and helpers staying overnight must supply a Working with Children Check Number and complete the A2 application to become an adult helper online here: https://www.nsw.scouts.com.au/become-an-adult-helper/

Cost: . The camp fee includes $32 camping cost /badge/activities fee. Catering is additional and will be paid to the group.
Accommodation: This will be in tents.  Berrima average temperatures in September range from 5 to 16 degrees so bring appropriate bedding.  Scouts will be accommodated with their own troop unless otherwise arranged for single female Scouts.
What to bring: See the attached flyer

Activities: Scouts whose parents have not indicated in the application that the Scout may participate in water and boating activities will not be able to participate in these activities. Please make sure that the Scout can actually swim 50m before ticking this box on the form. If river or weather conditions are deemed to be dangerous or too cold, the water activities will not take place.
Canadian Style canoes will be used for the activity and PFDs will be provided for people using these craft.
Sufficient experienced leaders with the appropriate canoeing qualifications will be present.
A reminder that we will be working near the river banks, doing Bushcare activities and will be walking where the ground is uneven. Scouts will come in contact with plants and insects so please provide medication for any allergies or asthma even if there has not been an attack for some time.
Scouts will be using a variety of hand tools which may be sharp. They will be instructed in their use and supervised appropriately.

Directions: The Berrima Scout Environment Camp is located in Apple Street Berrima. Not to be confused with the Berrima public camping ground which is at the bottom of Oxley Street.  Entrance is on the left a reasonable distance down Apple St and is sign-posted. From the Old Hume Hwy, turn into Oxley Street. Then turn right into Argyle Street and left into Apple Street. It's a bit confusing because it seems to be Old Mandemar Road but it's really Apple Street.
