The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course will cover all of the necessary skills and knowledge for open water scuba diving, including:
•The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, heat loss, tides, currents, waves, surge, etc.
•Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air, mixed gases, etc.
•Dive equipment selection, assembly, use and maintenance
•Dive planning
•Basic scuba skills including mask and regulator skills, swimming underwater, buoyancy control, basic rescue techniques, and emergency procedures
For those that have previously qualified as a diver but would like to undertake a full refresher including pool and open water , the refresher option is available
This course is targetted for Scouts (min age 12), Venturers and Adult Memvber
Theory sessions on Tiuesday 10/01/2023 from 09:00 - 13:00 at TBA
Pool Session on Thursday 12/01/2023 from 10:00 - 14:00
Open Water Sessions on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd January 08:00 - 14:00
Please note that you must be able to swim 200 metres to undertake this course and be able to answer No to the questions on medical form/complete a medical
All Scuba gear and wetsuit is included for the course =; you will need to provide your own neoproene boots ( if needed, these can be purchased on the day from the dive shop )
Please complete the medical questionnaire. If you answer yes to If to questions 3, 5 or 10 OR to questions on page 2, you will need to complete a medical in order to undertake this course
